Warren Memorial Hospital is a 196-bed nonprofit community hospital located in Front Royal. The hospital is part of Valley Health, a nonprofit health system providing a broad range of clinical services through a comprehensive regional network of hospitals, clinics, care providers and support services. Warren Memorial provides medical, surgical and diagnostic care, as well as long-term care in the adjoining Lynn Care Center. Services include 24-hour emergency care, women’s care, occupational health, wellness services, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, physical rehabilitation, and diagnostic imaging. The 120-bed Lynn Care Center includes a 24-bed unit for short-stay patients needing rehabilitation or skilled nursing care. Physicians representing more than 20 medical specialties are associated with the hospital. Warren Memorial has made a number of changes in the way patients experience healthcare and is an affiliate of Planetree, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating patient-centered care in healing environments.
Warren Memorial is planning a new Ambulatory Care Center (ACC), a 36,000 square-foot building that will be constructed on the former Commonwealth Lumber site on Commerce Avenue. The hospital will be moving the following services into the first floor of the building – Occupational Health, Outpatient Physical and Occupational Therapy, general radiology equipment and a lab drawing station. This will make those services more accessible to the community as well as reduce the traffic flow on the hospital campus. The second floor will be designed for physician office space in anticipation of the need to recruit additional doctors to meet the community’s needs. The ACC project has been approved by the Front Royal Town Council, and the hospital has submitted a Certificate of Public Need (COPN) application to the Virginia Department of Health. If the project receives a COPN as expected, construction will begin by the end of 2006 and be completed by the winter of 2008.
