WATER-SEWER MAINTENANCE DIVISION
The
Town of Front Royal has an opening for a
FULL-TIME UTILITY LINE TECHNICIAN. This position
performs semiskilled and skilled work in the installation,
repair and maintenance of utility lines and appurtenances,
including water and sewer taps and service connections;
installation of meters.
Repairs and replaces sewer and water lines and related
facilities, unstops sewer lines with sewer rodding machine.
Locates water and sewer lines.
Employee will assist in snow and ice removal and other
duties as assigned. This
is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force
occasionally, up to 50 pounds force frequently, and up to 20
pounds of force constantly.
While normal work schedule is 7AM to 3:30 PM, individual
must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
to repair waterline breaks and maintain functional lines to
residents of the Town. Position is subject to inside and outside
environmental conditions including extreme cold and heat. This
position will also be on a rotating on-call 24/7 as needed.
Overtime including night and weekend work is a job requirement.
Class “B” CDL with Tanker Endorsement is preferred or ability to
attain with 3 months of employment.

Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor in
the maintenance and repair of public facilities, buildings,
grounds, streets, utilities and related facilities.
Previous experience in concrete work, excavating,
forming/framing, pouring, and backfilling.
Will require other work in the maintenance of streets and
snow removal.
Essential job duties include ability to work in extreme weather
conditions, ability to operate vehicles and ability to
occasionally lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 100

General Services manager
Front Royal is seeking candidates for the position of
General Services
Manager. This position reports to the Director of
Environmental Services.
Position will coordinate, organize, communicate and
oversee division functions including
Solid Waste,
Horticulture, and Buildings
and Grounds within the department.
Previous experience required in administering Solid Waste
Management programs in a cost-effective, safe, and
environmentally sound manner.
Responsibilities include collection and disposal of solid
waste material, including household trash/garbage, recyclable
materials, and vegetation or “yard” waste.
Experience required supervising the design, planting, and
maintenance of floral landscape and urban tree planting areas
located throughout the Town. Successful applicant will have the
ability to research and review submission of bids, perform grant
research and maintain a presence as the town’s representative in
additional civic organizations. Must be knowledgeable in
maintenance and repair work in building maintenance, with a
well-rounded knowledge level in the following trades: Carpentry,
painting, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
Must be knowledgeable in the use of all division
equipment and possess a Class B CDL with Airbrakes endorsement.
Ability to add Tanker endorsement within 3 months of hire.
Must have proven skills as in a supervisory role for a minimum
of 5 years as well as strong interpersonal skills.
Proven ability as a leader of a diverse, multi-functional
teams is also a requirement for the position.
